Rudi's Notes 05-20-16
21st of Desnus
After a quick discussion about how to proceed after different members were poisoned by the strange, strength sapping little spiders, with Rudi bearing the worst of it, the group decides to explore the region to the west, and put off confronting the Stag Lord. Before setting off, Ted stormed off into the woods alone without giving the others a reason.
As the sun started to set on a warm cloudy day, the group heard a series of quick, yipping barks through the trees.
Faderean went in to investigate and found a pair of animals trapped in a pit. Striped and lean like a big cat, but with a long big maw like a dog. Trying to get closer, he fall into the pit. Rudi, too busy being sick to react doesn’t hear anything until Sear, Pirec, and Cassius (who claimed he did exactly what he wanted) followed him down where the hungry beasts were quick to pounce.
Hydrastis leapt into action, tying a rope to a tree and, with Rudi’s help, managed to pull Sear and Pirec out one by one. Both were on the verge of death, and Blod in his usual crass and acerbic way immediately leapt to their aid.
Cassius, killing one, turned to fight the one that Faderean was trying to bind and capture. Rudi threw himself down into the pit and onto the Thylacine’s back to help. However, their motives were very different. Faderean ultimately wanted to try and sell it since it was a rare creature. Rudi, whether from spending too much time with Hydrastis or other reason, just didn’t think they needed to kill it.
Ultimately the elf and halfling set it loose on their watch that night.

Faderean let the missing Thylacine slide until the morning, where he confronted the others and stopped just short of accusing the pair. Before moving on, Rudi doled out 95 Gold to each party member for the Kobold job before moving on.
The forest eventually gave way, slumping into a swampy mire, when they came upon a pair of ruined stone building jutting out of the ground. Spotting a slurk, a beast that had given them trouble in the past both in the Mite caves and on the road, Rudi and Faderean sneak up for a better look. They find two frog men, one with a trident, and signaled back to the others to let them know there was potentially trouble.
Cassius drew their attention by banging on his shield, drawing them out where they met King Garuum, King of This Empire, a frog man with a crippled hand. He repeatedly asked for a truce, and for help from “Baguurts,” evil frog men to the west.
Stopping for the night, they planned their next move.
